About Marcus Dycus

Senior full-stack software engineer building AI-powered platforms at startups. Based in the United States.

What I Bring to the Table

I am a senior full-stack software engineer with 6+ years of experience building production web applications at startups. I am based in Arkansas and work remotely.

Currently at Hapax AI, where I shipped 672 commits, 282 merged pull requests, and closed 97 of 100 assigned Jira issues (97% completion rate) building an enterprise AI platform for banking and financial services clients. Before that, I built internal tools and dashboards at Dillards and developed patient-facing health-tech features at One Drop.

I do not just write code. I build products. I help move companies forward with their technology, whether that means architecting a new feature, fixing the thing that is been broken for months, or figuring out the right tool for a problem nobody has scoped yet. I design and ship full systems, from database schema to deployment pipeline. I built a complete role-based access control (RBAC) permissions system end-to-end, migrated a document vault to server-side rendering, implemented full-text search across frontend and backend, and contributed to a major platform launch spanning chat, workflow, and permissions.

What I Am Good At

Full-Stack Engineering

TypeScript, Next.js, React on the frontend. Python, FastAPI on the backend. Neo4j, PostgreSQL, Redis for data. AWS, Docker for infrastructure. I work across every layer.

Next.js experience in depth

AI-Powered Applications

OpenAI and Anthropic SDK integration, LangChain orchestration, semantic search with pgvector, multi-agent systems, and RAG pipelines. I build AI into real products, not demos.

How I build with AI

Cross-Platform Development

Web apps with Next.js. Mobile with React Native and Expo. Desktop with Electron. I ship across platforms from a single codebase using Turborepo monorepos.

About This Site

Tinkers Workbench is my playground. A deliberately over-the-top portfolio built on a custom WordPress theme I wrote from scratch. The code underneath is clean, the deploy pipeline is automated, and the SEO is dialed in. The Comic Sans is a choice.
